The nine major cities in the Pearl River Delta: Shenzhen, Dongguan, Huizhou, Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Guangzhou, Foshan, and Zhaoqing are being combined into the world’s largest megacity.
One of its key projects -as pictured below- is the Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macao Bridge (HZMB).
The Bridge of about 55 km long, includes a 6.7 km underwater tunnel and a 23-km sea bridge section. The project will be the longest cross-sea passage in the world and it connects the worlds largest urban area based in the Pear River Delta.
The project is not only impressive by its scale, but also in its direct results. One of them meaning that travel-times between the 3 cities Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao are reduced from 4 to 5 hours by land, to just a 30 minute drive:
